Hi-Kent – Open For Clinics, Support and Classes

Hi Kent has kept its helplines open throughout lockdown, offering advice and guidance from its Maidstone and Canterbury Centres for people with hearing loss.
Its services have proved even more beneficial as so many of its clients struggled to find the help they needed, with some feeling even more socially isolated than usual.
Until recently, Hi Kent’s free HEARING AID AFTERCARE CLINICS were closed, but are now gradually being opened where it is safe to do so, with safety measures in place to protect clients and volunteers. Details of which clinics are now open can be found on the Hi Kent website.
Hi Kent’s free ASSESSMENT SERVICE has continued in a socially distanced manner. Clients are now offered an assessment either by telephone or video. Hi Kent is still providing equipment to help at home and at work. This equipment may also be bought from either centre. Face-to-face assessments in Hi Kent centres will be available from September 1.
Also continuing is Hi Kent’s running of free TINNITUS SUPPORT GROUPS online, via Zoom, which has proved very successful and will continue in this way for the time being.
The Hi Kent free LIPREADING CLASSES will start again in late September and will be held via Zoom for the next academic year.
Finally, the popular BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES will start again in September.
Contact Hi Kent if you need help, advice or information on any of its services, including sending out batteries while your local clinic is closed.
