Living Well With Hearing Loss – Hearbase

Living Well With Hearing Loss

Lipreading courses

An online course starts on Tuesday, January 19, offering practical strategies for coping with hearing loss.

Called Living Well With Hearing Loss, tutor Lisa Cox says it will help to improve confidence and wellbeing by giving tips on managing difficult listening situations. It will also help with strategies for lipreading and communication.

There will be four sessions over four weeks. The course is taught via CityLit online in spoken English. Another course takes place later in spring.

A chance to chat and ask questions

Lisa said: “It isn’t lipreading. It is a discussion-based course where participants learn how to come to terms with hearing loss and learn strategies and tips to help. They also learn about types of equipment and organisations.  In short, it is a chance to chat and ask questions.”

By the end of the course you should be able to:

  • Understand how to make the most of your lipreading skills
  • Understand how to manage the listening environment
  • Know how to explain your communication needs to others
  • Be aware of useful equipment and services

The course costs £59, with concessions available. To find out more and to enrol click here. You can also enrol by ringing 020 7831 7831.
