A charity gala and auction organised by hearing aid manufacturer Widex has raised more than £12,000.

The event took place at the LSO St Luke’s in Old Street, London and the money raised will be divided between two charities: Claire’s House children’s hospice in Liverpool – which Widex has supported for many years – and The Alzheimer’s Society.

The Electric Strings Quartet

Guests were entertained by the Electric Strings Quartet after being welcomed by Philip Stores, managing director of Widex UK and Ireland, and Lewis Chisnall, head of Widex for Greater Cheshire West and Chester area.

Tom Brown, associate director of fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society, spoke about the charity and a video was shown explaining the work of Claire’s House.

This was followed by the live auction of prizes, which included a five-night African safari, a six-night stay for two in Tuscany and a Thunderbirds experience at Pinewood Studios.

Overwhelmed

Raffle prizes included a signed Everton football shirt, luxury mid-Wales stay and two tickets to the London Symphony Orchestra performance at the Barbican.

“The Widex team are delighted and overwhelmed with the support this event has received and we wanted to say a special thank you to everyone who attended, sponsored, supplied, organised and helped us raise money for two incredible charities,” said a Widex spokesman.
