As part of our continuing commitment to supporting the arts we are again sponsoring Canterbury Music Club in its 81st season.

It has lined up a great series of eight monthly concerts and the new season starts on Sunday, September 25 with a recital by the dynamic Brecon Baroque.

This musical ensemble consists of an international line-up of world-class virtuosi in the period instrument world and they will be playing J. S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations, reimagined by harpsichordist Chad Kelly.

Leading interpreter

He has created this piece specially for Brecon Baroque and its director Rachel Podger (pictured above). Described by The Times as “the unsurpassed British glory of the baroque violin,” Rachel has established herself as a leading interpreter of the Baroque and Classical music periods.

Chad Kelly enjoys a rich and diverse career as a keyboard specialist and director, spanning genres from historically-informed performance and chamber music, to opera and musical theatre.

The concert on September 25 starts at 3pm and takes place in the stunning Colyer-Fergusson Hall at Kent University in Canterbury. Tickets are £20 but if you can’t get to the concert you can watch a live stream of the recital for £10.
