Hearbase is the leading local digital hearing company and we offer a wide range of services from our Deal branch.
We take your hearing loss seriously and it needs to be professionally diagnosed and treated with the best solutions available.

Services at our Deal branch:
Hearbase is Kent’s largest independent hearing company and we have been working in audiology for more than 20 years. We use the latest diagnostic techniques, combined with first class care and support.
Digital hearing aids come in a vast range to suit everyone’s needs, from the most straightforward to the most sophisticated. Our highly trained audiologists will advise you as which hearing aid best suits your hearing loss and your needs. They will explain the pros and cons of the various features so you can be sure of making the right decision.
As we are independent of any hearing aid manufacturer, this means we have access to all the world’s leading hearing aid brands making it simple to find the best solution for your hearing loss.
We are confident about the quality of our service so all our hearing aids come with a guarantee of 100% satisfaction or your money back.
Joana joined Hearbase in December 2012. She is the senior audiologist at the Deal branch. As well as being responsible for the private hearing aid service here, she specialises in tinnitus support and counselling, ear care and wax removal. She also works at our branches in Folkestone, Ashford, Canterbury and Charing.
After gaining her audiology degree in Porto, Joana worked in some of the major hospitals and hearing centres in Portugal. Working in diagnosis and rehabilitation with people of all ages, Joana tested hearing and fitted hearing aids from the world’s leading manufacturers. She was also part of a team who screened newborn babies for hearing loss.
While working in Portugal Joana organised audiology sessions at primary and elementary schools, arranged hearing aid workshops and carried out hearing screening with children and adults.
The economic difficulties in Portugal, along with Joana’s desire to see another culture, meet new people and gain experience working in another country, made her decide to move here.
She says: “Working for Hearbase is very gratifying for me. Ever since I started my audiology studies I had wanted to come and work in England. The best thing about my job is seeing the smiles and happiness of my patients when they can hear again.”
When not working Joana is keen on music, sport and photography.
What our patients say about Joana:
“I have just returned home from my appointment this morning with Joana Carvalho. Her colleague Hannah was with her and my wife Denise accompanied me.
“I am writing to say how excellent they were in dealing with us and with a fault I had with my aids. They listened to both of us and worked out the best solution.
“I continue to feel that having Joana as my audiologist is giving me the absolute best and Hearbase itself probably can’t be bettered. I am so grateful.” Norman Critchell
