Administrator/technical assistant Blessing Abdulsalam will be based in our Bromley branch and will also provide full-time private call handling, while administrator/technical assistant Caroline Saddington is based in our Broadstairs branch, helping audiologist Sharon Harris and ear care practitioner Rachel Harrison and also providing full-time private call handling support.

Blessing’s most recent job was with The GP Surgery in Thamesmead, where she started as a receptionist and got promoted to a referral administrator and safeguarding lead after just a few months.

“I was born in Nigeria and moved to the UK 19 years ago with my husband,” Blessing said. “I went to Lewisham College where I studied health and social care, maths and English.

Inspired

“I have also worked with a recruitment company where I started as a support worker. After a few months a position for a shift co-ordinator came up, I applied and got the job. Then I progressed to become the co-ordinator and resoucer until Covid happen and the branch was closed.

“I was looking to move to the private sector and a local Job, and then I saw Hearbase was advertising. I read about the owner Mark Scutchings and how he was an audiologist for many years and started Hearbase in 2003. I was inspired and applied. I would love to progress to be an audiologist some day.”

Blessing has three sons aged 18, 15 and nine and enjoys dancing and cooking and hopes to learn to swim one day.

Wax removal videos

Caroline’s background is mainly in pharmacy which she started when she was 19.

“However, my last job was an optical assistant for Vision Express,” she said. “I really enjoyed optics, however, sadly it no longer fitted around my family life.

“I wanted to join Hearbase as I have always secretly enjoyed watching wax removal videos online and find it very interesting. Also, it’s very convenient as my son goes to school just up the road from the Broadstairs branch.

First home

“I have a 12-year-old son who is absolutely fascinated in all things to do with nature, especially insects.

“I have just bought my very first home in Birchington, having previously lived in Kingsgate, near Broadstairs and I’ve recently adopted a cat named Teddy as now I have a garden for Teddy to enjoy.

“I enjoy holidays, barbecues, cycling, fishing and paddleboarding. We visited Orlando, Florida, for the fourth time in February and we are visiting Barcelona this October and plan to travel to Canada in 2024. I love the warmer weather and anything that involves being outside!”
