Cellist Cara Berridge and pianist Libby Burgess are giving the next concert for Canterbury Music Club – which we are supporting – on Sunday, March 19 at 3pm.
Cara is a founder member of the Sacconi Quartet which has won prizes at many International competitions and performed at all the major London venues, including Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, Cadogan Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and Conway Hall.
In addition to playing with the Sacconi Quartet, Cara enjoys playing with various chamber orchestras, Ensemble Perpetuo and recording music for films and TV programmes. She graduated from the Royal College of Music in 2002 with First Class Honours and continued her studies as the Amaryllis Fleming Scholar, receiving her Postgraduate Diploma and Advanced Diploma with Distinction in 2003 and 2004.
Cara plays a Nicolaus Gagliano cello from 1781, on loan to her from the Royal Society of Musicians, a charity which helps musicians in need.
Pianist Libby Burgess is well-known on concert stages across Britain, playing in the country’s major halls and festivals, on Radio 3, and on numerous recordings. She is known for her ‘warm, sensitive pianism’ (The Observer), her musical intelligence and her generosity of collaborative spirit.
As the founding artistic director of New Paths Music she has quickly been recognised for the striking, enticing tone of her programming, reflecting her own twin interests of song and chamber music. Libby is also co-artistic director with Martin Roscoe of the Beverley Chamber Music Festival. She is highly regarded as a vocal coach, speaker and writer and was previously head of keyboard at Eton College.
Their Canterbury concert takes place in the Colyer-Fergusson Hall, Kent University, Canterbury where there is free parking.
The programme features works by Debussy, Beethoven, Faure and Chopin.
